Dear Supporters and Allies of DataCenter,

What an evening! The ReGeneration Gala was a great success! It was an amazing gathering of some 200 people who have built DataCenter. We are pleased to announce that the event generated $125,000 in support of our programs and grassroots organizing. We are humbly and sincerely grateful.

It's also that time of year again. We're sending out our year-end newsletter! It highlights the recent victory for domestic workers in New York with the passage of the first ever Domestic Workers' Bill of Rights. Other 2010 highlights include a donor profile on long time DataCenter supporter Paul Kivel and the recent victory for West Oakland teens who were awarded $5 million to build the West Oakland Teen Center.

Additional Gala Highlights

As guests arrived looking snazzy in their finest attire, DataCenter friends reconnected, reminisced at the Historical Gallery display and bid on their favorite art pieces by Rini Templeton, Doug Minkler, and Rita Blitt.

Our lively emcee Kim Klein began the program with a few great jokes, and then we proceeded to the main event: the awards.

We heard the inpsiring story of Zoia Horn and her fight for the Right-to-Know that began during the Vietnam War and continued through her projects at DataCenter.

Next, we celebrated co-founder Fred Goff's lifelong service to social justice. He shared words of wisdom, thanks and inspiration with us all.

Finally a surpise award for Kim Klein (and she really was surprised!)
for her generous gifts of time, expertise,
and financial support to DataCenter over the decades.

To conclude the evening, we heard from individuals and organizations whom DataCenter has served. It was a time to reflect on DataCenter's past successes as we move excitedly to new projects all for the sake of research justice.

Not that you've gotten a recap of the evening, check out photos and the video tributes of Zoia and Fred that aired at the event. You can also check out the DataCenter historical gallery, and tag yourself in the photos! You will also find more Gala highlights in our upcoming newsletter. Look for it in your mailbox or download it now (pdf)!

The Gala sent out ripples far and wide. We are very pleased by the overtures we've recieved from those who want to partner with us, or talk about how they can volunteer, donate or support us.

Last, but most certainly not least, there are so many people to recognize for the overwhelming success of the Gala.

In particular, we thank:
