Winnemem Wintu Tribe Begins
Sacred Site Mapping, Continues Storytelling

Eagle Rock, a large rock formation, sits high on the sacred land of the Winnmem Wintu Tribe, watching the river below, making sure it is safe. It looks much the same as it did centuries ago, except it has been desecrated by bullets.

This site is one of the first to be mapped via satellite for the Winnemem Wintu Sacred Sites Documentation project.
