Why an Endowment Fund
In September 2001 we publicly
launched an Endowment Campaign to help create a long-term
financial base for the DataCenter.
We know from 30 years of providing strategic
research to the social justice movement that our assistance
will always be needed. Our Endowment will help ensure that
the DataCenter will always be here and in a position to serve
those who need it the most - particularly those grassroots
campaigns doing pioneering work.
One of the attractive features of the Endowment
is that it makes a gift work in perpetuity and greatly leverages
its impact, providing support many times the size of the actual
gift. The Endowment's income stream also gives us added flexibility
in doing our work by covering costs that are difficult to
fundfrom mundane overhead to cutting-edge emerging issues.
The Goal
Our goal is to raise $2 million. We have already received
gifts and commitments from individual donors of over $1,000,000.
How to give
You can help by making a gift and by helping us contact donors
you know who may have an interest in making a gift. Any amount
is obviously helpful and most welcome. Gifts may be pledged
and stretched out over several years. Donors have made gifts
from $200 to $200,000every gift helps.
They can be cash, stock,
an insurance policy
or IRA, or a bequest
in your will. We also have a Pooled
Income Fund that offers donors income for life as well
as attractive tax benefits.
